Happy Dumpling Festival 端午节快乐
2nd time I'm posting about food~~~!!!! Yummy yummy food again.....!!!! XD Dumpling = 粽子 (粽zong 子zi ) Every year my mummy is sure to make some dumplings for the festival, as a gift to friends & relatives & for praying to god and ancestor. It's not easy to make dumpling and alot of people out there do not know how to make it.... kekekekke.... the preparing of ingredients is quite tough, I help out this year by cutting the melon sugar and cooking the pork..... it's really tiring stirring a big wok of pork... hahahahha!!! But the most diffcult process is wrapping the dumpling..... it's a skill that must be taught by experience people (eg. My mummy )!!! (>_<) How to make into a pocket using leaves? How much rice to put in? How much pork to put in? How to make it into triangular shape? How to tie the dumpling? Sound easy but when you are doin it... it's not easy!!!! kekekekeke!!!! Surprisingly I remember how to do it.... When I was younger in my primary school days, if I did not remember wrongly. My mum and aunt will meet at my grandma house a few days or a week before dumpling festival to make dumpling. My sisters, cousin and I learnt from them... kekekeke... just out of curiosity and for fun, we tried wrapping pork dumpling (aka bah zhan) at 1st but it was a total mess as we do not know how to estimate the amount of rice and ingredient to be put in... and we were very new to the method of holding and wrapping into a triangular shape.. hahahaha.... so we were told to do the easier ones which is call kee-zhan, purely just yellow glutinous rice and that year we did all the kee-zhan... kekekke.... it's fun.... This year, Thistle & I help out abit in wrapping the dumpling which is specially made for my grandma. As it's not easy to digest glutinous rice so mummy use brown rice instead.... hahahahaha.... ![]() That's all for today.... remember to drink alot of water or tea as eating dumpling is very heaty and diffcult to digest....
